Red Dot Handgun Application Course [RDHAC]

Red Dot Handgun Application Course [RDHAC] is a 2 day course designed to introduce students to the world of red dot mounted handguns. The course will begin with the basics, such as discussing different optic types, mounting options, limitations and capabilities. By the end of the course, students will be comfortable with more advanced skills, such as shooting around vehicles, multiple target engagements, and managing red dot failures.

THIS IS NOT A BASIC SHOOTING COURSE. Students should be comfortable with the basic fundamentals of marksmanship and firearms safety. We will be moving and shooting around each other. Safety is paramount for this class. Students are expected to be safe at all times and will be expelled from the course if they conduct two or more unsafe acts.

PREREQUISITE: Must be a graduate of a police academy or have attended reputable handgun courses.

-Limitations and capabilities

-Mounting options and solutions

-Maintenance

-Zeroing

-Grip, draw stroke, and presentation

-Height over bore considerations

-Shooting from cover

-Moving and shooting

-Tourniquet types and application

-Self aid/buddy aid

-One handed shooting/Shooting while injured

-Two man fire and maneuvering techniques

Round Count:

-800 rounds

Weapon requirements:

-Serviceable Handgun with a minimum of 3 magazines with cleaning kit

Equipment requirements:

-Eye protection

-hearing protection

-Holster with retention **NO SERPA OR CLOTH HOLSTERS**

-Magazine pouches

-Weather appropriate clothing

Equipment recommendations:

-Plate carrier

-Extra magazines

Students are highly encouraged to bring food and water with them to the course. A small lunch break will be given each day to ensure we maximize training time.
